I know it's compatible with anything that can spit out postscript.

My point was that Linux does not run _on_ that printer. The later
generations of laser printers actually run Linux _on_ the ASIC, thus the
above ftp url.

Lexmark marketting hasn't made a big deal about the fact that Linux
powers the business lasers. I was just pointing this out b/c I was
surprized when I first found out.

I'm not saying the toner is a bad deal, just pointing out that the price
of the actual printer is a small part of the total purchase price.
