what do you want to do that's x related? fire up a GUI web browser?

With some tweaking of /etc/mailcap, and a helper script like htmlview or
urlview, you too can get all the pop-up and 1x1 transparent gif
web-bug goodness from your text mail readers.

but i didn't want that so i just put

text/html; w3m -dump -T text/html '%s'; copiousoutput; description=HTML Text; na metemplate=%s.html

in my ~/.mailcap file
