Centuries ago, Nostradamus predicted that Brian Sobolak would write on Tue Mar 24 21:15:51 2009:

Yes, we do talk about Linux and stuff, but let us not forget that
there are other free operating systems besides Linux. I spent 3 days
last week teaching a class in Unix Network Programming, and I and my
students spent the entire 3 days on Solaris 10, because I couldn't
find a Linux system on which the TLI subroutines worked correctly.
It's been only how many years since the TLI standard came out in
System 5 Release 3? Twenty-three? I told my students that Sun
Microsystems has always been ahead of everyone else when it comes to
networking, which is true, but my students are nevertheless wondering
why Linux still doesn't come with decent TLI support. So let's devote
our next UFO meeting to a discussion of Solaris and FreeBSD.
