I think Google knows you use elm and that's why it hates you.

Second, you should fire the marketing people at Shachter Labs (tm) for not
delivering results.

More seriously, the answers I've heard relate to both the number of people
linking to your website with those terms as well as the values within the
<title> tag of your page.

The exact formula of PageRank (tm) is proprietary, but they do offer tips
on how to improve your rankings.  (Apparently some sites on the Internets
do this with great frequency to improve their rankings; my name often
shows up in some kind of text blender websites that merely repost other
stuff found online, presumably to improve rankings.)
