[UFO Chicago] Meeting Fodder: Impact of "Premium Content" Protection on Free Operating Systems

UFOnians might find of interest this analysis of
the impact of "Premium Content" protection schemes
(or is that Digital Restrictions Management?) in a
much-ballyhood proprietary operating system.

These schemes are relevant to afficianados of Free
operating systems because, inter alia, in order to
for certain hardware devices to be permitted to
work with the proprietary operating system, the
design of the hardware must be kept secret, and
therefore it may be impossible for Free software
developers to obtain the information needed to
write drivers for the hardware.

Seems like something out of a Kafka novel.
