I have used one, that is exactly how it works. When you come in to the store
it wants you to scan your jewel card and prints out coupons that are "just
for you." It does a reasonable job of suggesting items you like at a lower
price. You don't have to have the coupons to give to the casher, it just
links that discount to your jewel card for the rest of the day. I always get
a coupon for beer and rice pudding, two things that I buy often at jewel. It
will also throw random crap on there that they think you might like.
It has saved me a few bucks when I was not paying attention. Whatever avenue
discounts you are offered are subtracted from the lowest price currently on
the item. So if soup is on sale for $1.50, and you have a $.50 off soup
avenue discount, your soup will be $1.00.
