I've heard less pleasant things about Sol7 than that.  We
ran Solaris 2.6 on most things (heaviliy patched of
course), and Sol8 on the new stuff.  We made the mistake of
Sol7 on a few oddball boxes, and while they
didn't...break...they didn't perform all that well either. 
On the flip side, Sol8  has gotten good reviews from poeple
who've used it.
