Daniel - I had the same problem with RedHat 8. The libc.so.6 file was
located in /lib/i686 not in /lib. I tried creating a /lib/i686
subdirectory and several variations of "ln -s libc.so.6 ..." but nothing
worked. Dave suggested using "export ..." but that doesn't work either. I
am still stumped as to how to fix the problem.

Hi all,
I still have my problem. I would like
some position about it.
============
I using RH9 and when i inserted the
second disk, the folling error appear.
init: error while loading shared
libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or
directory
Kernel panic: Attempted to kill init!
========
Is this a RH9 problem or generic RH
problem ?
Thanks!
Daniel
