I still have some room left on my root disk image that I can put a few more tools. I am going to try to get some network capability on this project of mine. Thanks for the recipes also. I will take a look at them.

Dave,
I've had a bad time with ibiblio lately too. I wonder if something is
messed up over there. Try http://www.freshmeat.net. I typed in
"ifconfig" and found the package there. It's called net-tools.
Are you installing this on a hard disk now? I don't think it'll fit on
the floppy with all the other stuff you need for networking. If you
still want to keep it small on a diskette, try a package called busybox.
If you want some hints on building net-tools and the other networking
stuff, visit: http://my.core.com/9A/2F/dhorton/linux/recipes/ I've got
some old scripts that I've used to automate building of several
packages. You'll definitely want to look at them first before running
them since they are old and not well tested and could overwrite stuff on
your system.
