My $0.02 -- that is probably not a valid comparison.

Comcast will charge a modem rental of $7 month, unless you buy one in
advance.  Comcast will likely charge an installation fee unless you have
one already.  That is also a sale price that will end after your 12 month
contract.

To describe the service from Comcast as crappy is an understatement -- it
truly DEFINES crappy.  It puts the crap in crappy.  It sets the standard
that everyone sees as the absolute worst to avoid.

So it's cheaper, but that's about it.
