Hi folks. In case you haven't heard about it yet, this March Chicago
will be hosting the largest web development conference the midwest will
see this year: DrupalCon Chicago.

What is this "Drupal" thing? It's the open source web CMS that powers
1% of the web, including Sony BMG, The Economist, WhiteHouse.Gov, and
the US House of Representatives. The latest version, Drupal 7, was just
released this month after nearly three years of active development by
over 1000 people.

Although obviously centered around the Drupal web CMS, DrupalCon is an
international conference in web development and will feature dozens of
sessions, panels, and training seminars designed to get both new users
and experienced veterans up-to-speed with the latest version of Drupal.
The venue is Chicago's own Sheraton Hotel and Towers, March 7-10.

Featured speakers include noted author and Internet visionary Clay
Shirky, Web usability guru Jared Spool, and Drupal project lead Dries
Buytaert. Other speakers include a Who’s Who of Web design experts such
as Jeremy Keith, Mark Boulton, and Leisa Reichelt, and dozens more:

It's not just a PHP coder conference, either. Sessions are spread out
fairly evenly between development, site building, design and usability,
theming, business and project management, and community management.

Tickets are $350 for early bird pricing through this Friday, 14 January,
and $400 after that. That makes DrupalCon not only one of the largest
web development conferences but also one of the cheapest. (Conferences
a quarter the size routinely run over $1000.)
