UniForum Chicago: August Meeting - “So, Why Do Projects Slip?”
UniForum Chicago is proud to announce the topic for the August 25,
2009 general meeting: "So, Why Do Projects Slip?” by Ron Holohan. Our
meetings are free and open to the public and begin promptly at 7pm at
the IIT Rice Campus in Wheaton, IL.
Hope to see you there!
ABSTRACT
----------------------
Many of us have been on a project that doesn’t go as planned. The truth is
* Only 44% of projects finish on time
* Projects usually complete at 222% of original duration planned
* Projects usually complete at 189% of original budget
* 70% fall short of their intended scope
* 30% are cancelled before completion
Do projects slip because of poor planning and underestimating the time
it takes to get the work done? Do they slip because of a lack of
skilled resources assigned to do the work? Do projects slip because of
a lack of adequate risk strategies in place? Or is it actually human
nature to be late?
Ron Holohan, PMP, uncovers many of these mysteries and offers
suggestions on how you can insure your project deliverables finish on
time, and in many cases, earlier than expected, through recognizing
and understanding several fundamental factors of human nature that
cause projects to be late and how to overcome those factors.
