T & R wanted to write unix for the PDP 10 but they couldn't get
funding to buy one so they used a "little-used PDP 7" instead.
Actually while they were trying to get funding for the PDP 10 they
wrote a game for the PDP 7 and that gave them the idea to write
an OS for it. It was written in PDP 7 ASSEMBLER.

B came along when Thompson decided to write a FORTRAN compiler for
the PDP 7 Unix, instead he wrote a definition for B, based on BCPL.
B was a sore match for the PDP 11 so Unix was also witten in
Assembler on it. They redesigned B to become C and then started
rewriting all of the Unix system in C. [1]

internet" "Is Your Son a Computer Hacker." Also see the wikipedia
article [3] on Adequacy.org

Groupwise has Userfriendly.org blocked as "entertainment" which
is quite a stretch if you ask me.

Why Aluminum sucks [4] unfortunatly they only talk about stress and
don't get into pitting corrosion. Of course the way pitting works
is that it's most likely to form at angles and other features on
the bike where Cl- can build up. These features are usually also
stress risers, meaning that while aluminum is resistant to
generalized corrosion, the pitting that occurs tends to occur exactly
where metal strength is most critical.

Anything else?
