Probably this is all old news to everybody here, but I just stumbled across:

Is anybody using any of the free OSes besides BSD variants and Linux?  
Like maybe minix, which runs on a 286 with 640 K ram?

Are there any forth based systems?

Also I stumbled across toastytech, but I think I remember seeing that 
posted here.
