Actually, it is.  There is a small bit of circuit board
between the fan and the chassis, and all three wires attach
there.  I don't know if it actually does anything though...

Hmm...  I just looked up "perverse" in the dictionary.  The
definition said "see 'laptop hardware'".  ;-)
