Just now Peter A. Peterson II made 15 LEDs in my apartment flash with this:
> While we're at it, let's have an out-and-out pine versus mutt

I used pine for years and I switched to mutt around the end of
January. I had looked at mutt before, but only with the default
configuration. I have to admit, the default configuration of mutt is
kind of lame. I switched when I installed the Muttrc from flynn (or
maybe it was zork) on my box. That is the ultimate power of mutt. It
is highly configurable. The one feature that I miss from pine is that
replying was all done using 'r' and if there were multiple recipients,
it would then ask "Do you want to reply to all?" or something like
that. It didn't even matter whether any of the addresses were mailing
lists, you could press 'r' and it would ask if there were multiple
targets. In mutt the reply function is triplicate: reply, group
reply, and list reply. Even after seven months, I'm still not used to
specifying list reply, even for THIS MESSAGE about mutt v. pine (I had
originally pressed 'r' when I meant 'l'). The decided factor for me,
of course is that pine is non-free.
