My Fellow Geeks,

Freeing Dmitry is hard work! And so is whatever it is that you do to
pay the bills.

So take a laid-back Saturday afternoon and hang out at American
Science and Surplus with your friends from UFO Chicago!

We're going to be at American Science and Surplus at 5316 N. Milwaukee
Avenue between 12:00 PM and 1:30 PM, and after that, at George's
Restaurant* at 3224 W. Foster Avenue for food and conversation**.

In case you don't know what AS&S is, you're in for a real treat.
First, visit their website at: http://www.sciplus.com/ . THey deal in
all kinds of things from ant farms to solenoids to radiosondes to
posters of ulcers, all for low, low prices! They also have a monthly
catalogue that comes out. Here are a few entries to whet your
whistles:

Gotcha: A loud single-tone siren on a 3" swivel-mount metal bracket.
The plastic housing is 4-1/8" x 4" dia. It has 2 6ft leads. It's loud.
It's incredibly loud. It's so loud it's disorienting. It's 116dB at
12VDC, and still loud at 3VDC. Scare a burglar witless. Deafen a car
thief. Or call the crew in from the south 40. It's loud.
 32773 116DB SIREN $12.50 / EACH

Killer Magnet
This is a killer of a magnet! The oddly shaped rare–earth magnet,
only 1" x 1-3/4" x 1/4" thick, can lift 85 lbs of steel. We would
have written it up earlier if we weren't afraid to take it near our
computer. And if we could have pried it off the metal shelf it was on.
We were only able to move the black-painted magnet, which can shatter
if dropped onto steel, because it's glued to a 1 1/8" x 2 1/2"
metal plate with (2) mounting holes. A nice convenience that offers
some leverage. A little advice: Don't stick this on your
refrigerator, because the only way you’re going to get it off is to
slide it across the finish to the edge. Don't get it too close to
your credit cards, computer disks, or vulnerable electronic equipment.
Don't trap skin or body parts between two of these magnets. And
don't let the warnings discourage you -- this magnet is very
powerful, very inexpensive, and very fun!
 32676 KILLER MAGNET $9.50 / EACH

And such items as: Peltier Heat Pumps! Suction cups! Drawer slides!
Bellows Thingies! Tweezers! Clamps! Styrofoam cutters! Chuck keys!
Police Tape! Epoxy!

Buy everything you need to build a giant, acid-spitting robot (except
the acid) in your own backyard!

So join us for the junk, and later for the food, or for either one!
